The chapter traces a 50+ year arc from the hashtag#StockholmDeclaration (1972) to UNGA Resolution 76/300 (2022), and beyond (to the advisory opinions). It reads the United Nations Human Rights Council and United Nations General Assembly hashtag#votingpatterns through a contrapuntal, hashtag#TWAIL (Third World Approaches to International Law)-informed lens.
Special thanks to Dr. David R. Boyd with whom I first shared my idea for this article in 2022, and his encouragement then and throughout meant a lot. The same year, I submitted an abstract for a symposium at Melbourne Law School. I got accepted, but wasn't able to go. Later in 2023, I presented the same at British International Studies Association in Glasgow and got invited to write a guest post in Environmental Politics journal (see here). I kept refining the work for the last four years, brainstorming the concepts with many scholars and practitioners. It has been such a rewarding experience.
Truly grateful to my co-editors Richard Beardsworth and Viktoria Spaiser for the constant support throughout โ for the chapter, as well as the book. What a joy to see our book ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ข๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ: ๐ ๐๐๐ฑ๐ญ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ก go live. See the book here โ
